After two nights with very limited access, we are in New Baltimore NY and have a great signal!
Day 2 from Westbrook CT to Porrt Washington NY started a little foggy but cleared nicely. Very nice crossing. LONG dinghy ride to town for a very nice dinner at the famous Louie's.
The East River and Hellgate in particular were interesting but very doable. Awesome feeling to encounter the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Saw a couple of interesting boats. Sagres, which is one of the tall ships which we met as it passed the statue, and Le Grand Bleu, a 370 foot yacht which was quite a sight.
Very nice ride up through the palisades and under the GW and Tappan Zee Bridges. Spent Night 3 in Newburgh NY which has a most interesting number of restaurants and not much else! Another great dinner at Cena2000!
Scenic trip up the river today to New Baltimore. No one seems to know where Old Baltimore is.
Tomorrow we enter the Champlain Canal and head for lock 5 at Schuylerville.
Go Sox!
