Joel and Sue Peterson and Jim Franklin & Brenda Swithenbank are the proud owners of Eastern Boats. The Peterson's have a 31 foot version, After You (right, above), built in 2007, and the Franklin-Swithenbank's have a 2710, Taking Stock (left, above), built in 2008. For more information about the boats see the Eastern Boats website.
Starting at the end of June 2009 we will set out on a three-week voyage. We will depart Falmouth Harbor (Massachusetts) and proceed southwest to New York City via Long Island Sound, down the East River to New York Harbor and then up the Hudson River to Lake Champlain.
This year marks the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's trip up the Hudson River aboard the Half Moon. While we will not be re-enacting the trip, it is certainly exciting to be embarking on this adventure at this time.
This is Joel and Sue's second major trip on the After You but this will be Brenda and Jim's first extended trip on the Taking Stock. Brenda and Jim will also have their Westie, Watson, in tow. We will try to document his adventures as well.
We will try to blog whenever we have Internet access. We hope that you will follow our trip and send us your comments.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Watson will be "in tow" is the best way to state the case---if so, poor Watson! IFAW may be following you!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to wish you good sailing, Even thou you don't really sail. Taken stock was in darknes at 37, assumeing you are resting up for the big trip.
